The AI tools, apps, and workflows I actually use — curated from years at the intersection of emergency medicine, artificial intelligence, and building technology that works under pressure.
My Stack
Tools I Actually Use
No sponsorships, no fluff — just the tools that earn their place in my workflow week after week.
Claude
My primary AI assistant for writing, analysis, research, and code. The nuance of its reasoning and the length of its context window make it genuinely useful for complex medical and technical problems.
Dev ToolsCursor
An AI-native code editor that has fundamentally changed how I build software. It understands your entire codebase and makes building websites and tools faster than ever before.
ProductivityNotion
Where I organise everything — notes, projects, SOPs, and databases. The flexibility to build your own systems means it adapts to how you actually think, not the other way around.
Automationn8n
Self-hostable workflow automation that connects apps, APIs, and AI models into powerful pipelines. Zapier's more capable sibling — essential for building serious AI automations.
ResearchPerplexity
AI-powered search that gives cited, up-to-date answers instead of a list of links to trawl through. Invaluable for rapid research on clinical topics, technology, and current events.
DesignFigma
The industry standard for UI/UX design and prototyping. Whether designing a new product interface or mapping out a client website, Figma is where ideas become visual before they become code.
Knowledge
Tips & Tricks
Hard-won lessons from operating at the edge of medicine and technology.
AI Prompting
Give AI a role before a task
Start prompts with "You are a [role] with expertise in [domain]." The model's output shifts significantly when it has a clear identity and perspective to work from.
AI Prompting
Ask for reasoning, not just answers
Append "think step by step" or "show your reasoning" to complex questions. Like a good junior doctor, AI performs better when it externalises its thinking before committing to a conclusion.
Productivity
Protect your first two hours
No email, no social media, no meetings before 10am. Deep work on your most important project first. Everything else is reactive — your best thinking is not renewable once the day fragments.
Productivity
Use voice notes for ideas on the move
Between shifts, in the car, on a run — capture ideas immediately with voice. Transcription tools like Whisper or Otter.ai convert them to text automatically. Don't trust your memory; trust the system.
Healthcare Tech
AI won't replace clinicians — yet context matters
AI tools in medicine are decision support, not decision makers. The clinician who understands both the model's capabilities and its limitations will consistently outperform those who ignore or blindly trust it.
Automation
Automate the repetitive before you optimise the complex
Find the task you do the same way more than three times a week. That's your first automation. Build it, test it, then move to the next. Automation compounds — small wins create capacity for bigger ones.
Web & Tech
Ship fast, then iterate
The perfect website launched in 6 months beats nothing. Get version one live, get real users, then improve based on actual feedback. Perfectionism before launch is just procrastination with better branding.
AI Prompting
Iterate with the model, not against it
Treat AI conversations like a collaboration — give feedback, refine, push back. "That's close, but make it more concise and less formal" works far better than starting over with a new prompt from scratch.
Mindset
Learn the why, not just the how
Tools change fast. The person who understands why something works — the underlying principle — adapts quickly to new tools. The person who only knows the steps is obsolete the moment those steps change.
